I’ve just been to visit my good friend Ruth who recently moved from Swindon to Norwich. She assures me it’s a step up in the world.
Despite feeling slightly out of place on “Nightclub street” without blonde wigs, micro-skirts and a trail of spilt Bacardi Breezer and vomit, we had a lovely evening – a quick drink and a tasty Chinese meal.
But the most disturbing thing was this. Christmas has come to Norwich already. I though there was some kind of pact that shops weren’t allowed to start on the festive malarky until after Hallowe’en. Either this diktat hasn’t reached the fens, or these displays were left over from last year.
But worse was to come. There’s something very wrong about seeing a Christmas tree in a pub in mid-October. Even the tree looked embarrassed about it:
