Last Saturday was my first big wedding booking of the year – playing at Laura and John’s wedding at the Matara Centre in Kingscote, Gloucestershire.
I played during the ceremony (Pachelbel’s Canon, From this Moment On by Shania Twain, and the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel) and then afterwards during the drinks receoption.
The ceremony was outside in a lovely cloistered courtyard around a charming water feature:
Unfortunately it was absolutely bloody freezing. I ended up having to play wearing my coat and two jumpers (which restricted my arms), my fingers got really cold, stiff and jerky, and the harp slid dramatically out of tune with the changing temperatures.
Still, it was a lovely day in a beautiful setting, and I wish John and Laura the very best for their future together.
